Almost 10 years ago, the city of Gwadar was planned to be turned into a large deep-sea port. And in the last 5 years Pakistan has made remarkable progress and it’s most notable venture the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has caught global attention. Gwadar’s port and the CPEC project now are of immense importance and valuable for Pakistan’s financial sector. Gwadar – Pakistan’s mega port city of the future

Pakistan’s plan to build its third deep-sea port at Gwadar, was proposed at a time when there were several other ports functioning already. Not to mention the mega cosmopolitan city Dubai, and two of Pakistan’s own ports, Karachi port and Port Qasim. Being a small fishing village and barren land, it was impossible to imagine Gwadar posing as a threat to the other ports that were around it. Inaugurated in 2002, the first phase of its development ended in 2006, and during this time the facilities built at the port were quite limited, with only 3 berths built there. The Gwadar port operations were then handed over to Port of Singapore Authority in 2007, the PSA oversaw the port’s operation for 5 years and during that time, and it was heavily neglected. How has Gwadar progressed over the years

Around 5 years ago many Gwadar Housing schemes were under the process of being developed. Some areas did not even have a full-time access to basic life necessities such has gas, electricity and fresh water. In fact there were areas reported that had only 8 hours of electricity supply. The education in the region wasn’t very high quality and the city didn’t have proper schools. Before the arrival of the Chinese, the rate of development was slow. However as soon as the CPEC project started, the city’s situation changed and Gwadar started advancing. And now in 2017 despite all of these short comings thereal estate of Gwadar is booming and the value of land for sale in Gwadar is incrementing on a monthly basis.
